We would like to commend the membership of VAST for assembling a strong show. Particular compliments are due for the overall variety of the exhibition and the strength of the work. The number of award categories allowed us to recognize a wide variety of energetic work.

Richard Ash

Janet Shaw

Richard Ash received his MFA from Wichita State University in Wichita, Kansas. He is Professeo of Art at Midwestern State University in Wichita Falls, Texas, where he has taught printmaking and drawing since 1968. From 1989-2002 Ash chaired the university's Department of Art. His artwork has been juried into dozens of exhibitions, and he has enjoyed many solo shows. Ash's works are included in many diverse collections including the Modern Art Museum of Fort Worth.

Janet Shaw currently serves as a member of the City of Plano's Public Art Commission and as a docent for The Crow Collection of Asian Art. She finds personal expression in watercolor and collage. Janet's early professional career began in the field of education - in secondary instruction, administration and accreditation. She received the Yellow Rose of Texas Award for Outstanding Volunteerism.
