From the President’s Paintbrush,

June 2024

Wow, I hope you were among the group that made up a “record crowd” at the final VAST meeting of 2023-2024.  What an outstanding evening.  The presenter, Tana Munoz was exceptionally entertaining; full of great information and an all around delight she shared her woodturning skills.

Our hats are off to Carolyn Johnson, VP of Programs on the wide variety of programs this year.  We have enjoyed and appreciated all the work she does following up on your recommendations and researching leads of other artists that might bring us new insights and fun ideas.

Hats off to the “Artist of the Year” to Roxanne Musick.  If you weren’t able to make it, her artwork is titled, “A walk in the woods” and is a mixed media piece.  How fun it was to see the culmination of everyone’s great artwork submitted at each meeting of this year.  Congratulations Roxanne.  And whistles and cheers to Pam Livingston, one of the most creative people I’ve ever known.  She has already met with her committee and handed out the themes for our 2024-2025 year!  What a gal!

Wait, it still gets better!  I have to give a shout out to 3 amazing women who work as hostesses for our monthly meetings.  Becca Hines who is a fixture in the kitchen coordinating the food, making sure we have everything we need and cleaning up so that the kitchen is left spic and span after we all go home.  I think she has coordinated the kitchen and the cleanup for nearly as long as VAST has existed.  Next,  Olivia Walker, our genius of the non committee/committee, who makes the food work for all and Pat Reinke who is a chef extraordinaire sharing her surprising treats and her willingness to do “whatever is needed”!  And last, but not least, all of you who contributed your generous donations of every kind of food imaginable.  I know I’m not the only one who looks forward to “dinner” prepared by our members each month.  When we all do a little the outcome is magical!

And to our new board members, Patti Richard, Dalynn Montgomery and returning for another term, Gail Cope, welcome.  This addition gets a standing ovation for agreeing enthusiastically to serve.  And that brings to the forefront our amazing board of directors who share their commitment and skills with all of us to make VAST the best art organization in Texas!  Each person brings a special set of skills that lend themselves to make all of us successful.

I feel like I need to recognize each and every one of you by name, as you all not only bring me joy but you are so necessary to make VAST what it is today, a rich, vibrant, talented group of artists who want art to be shared with each other and appreciated by all.  I stand in awe of your talents and your willingness to give of yourself.     Thank YOU.

Have a summer filled with blessings and art!  And watch the website for updated information.  Coffees, brown bag lunch, sketching, trips, and what’s happening around town, the country and lot more!!

See you at the Member’s Show Award Ceremony, June 6, 6-8 pm in the Meadow’s Gallery!  Thank you again and I am overjoyed that I have been given the pleasure to work with each of you yet another year!

Take good care of you and KEEP MAKING ART!
