A Workshop with Artist Sara McCain

Sara McCain is a professional artist and art instructor based in Flower Mound, Texas.
After earning her Bachelor of Arts in Art and Art Education, Sara mainly works with
mediums such as oil paints and watercolors while also enjoying experimenting
with many other kinds of mediums such as charcoal, acrylic, pastels and photography.
Her main focus in her work? Capturing the light and reflection in still life as well as
showing the everyday beauty in simple objects.
In addition to being an excellent art instructor,
Sara is frequently commissioned for original paintings of animals and homes.
She recently returned from a trip to Italy where she deepened
her knowledge of oil painting to share with others.
So what is Alla Prima?
It means "in one sitting" and is an expressive and spontaneous way of applying color
using a wet on wet technique.
She'll show you how to quickly block in colors by blending, mixing,
and layering in your paint to create the loose image you see in her example.

before Denton's October Month of Halloween.
The workshop is from 10:00-2:00pm so you may want to bring a quick lunch.
Please bring your own drink.. Snacks will be provided.
